Job Description

Reporting to the Accounts Receivable Supervisor, the Accounts Receivable Specialist manages assigned student-account workflows and provides responsive service to students, families, agencies, and campus partners. Primary responsibilities include third-party billing, withdrawal and refund calculations, returned-payment processing, account review and adjustment, and 1098-T support. The position applies university procedures and applicable federal and state requirements while maintaining accurate records and protecting confidential financial information.

Required Qualifications

•Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles and practices.
•Ability to analyze fiscal transactions for compliance with established procedures and regulations.
•Proficiency with basic Microsoft applications, especially Excel.
•Strong attention to detail, organization, prioritization, and verbal and written communication skills.
•Ability to meet tight or competing deadlines and work effectively with a wide range of people.
•Sound judgment, discretion, flexibility, and the ability to maintain composure while handling confidential financial matters and difficult situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Experience with Banner and Nelnet.
•Student accounts, collections, or other experience in a higher education setting.
•Demonstrated ability to collaborate with departments and diverse stakeholders in a dynamic environment.
•Education, training, and/or experience in accounting or a related field, or multiple years of relevant accounting or higher education experience.
