Key Responsibilities
The AP Manager is responsible for managing the Interoceanic Corporation and its subsidiaries’ accounts payable process and function in a professional and knowledgeable manner. This position ensures company policies and procedures are being adhered to as they pertain to accounts payable.
- Manage Accounts Payable operations across multiple affiliated companies and business units, ensuring consistency in policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Lead AP-related system implementations, process improvements, and ERP enhancements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capabilities.
- Coordinate cash requirements and payment planning with Treasury to support cash management and business objectives.
- Provide training and development to AP staff, including assigning work tasks and monitoring performance
- Develop, maintain, and improve AP workflows, approval hierarchies, vendor onboarding procedures, and payment controls.
- Analyze AP metrics, payment trends, aging reports, and operational data to identify risks, improve performance of the team overall, and support management decision-making.
- Serve as a key cross-functional partner between Accounting, Logistics, Operations, Trade Execution, and Management teams.
- Support acquisitions, new entity integrations, and organizational growth initiatives by establishing AP processes, controls, and reporting structures.
- Identify opportunities for automation and standardization of AP processes across multiple business units.
- Review high-value vendor payments and escalated issues requiring management intervention.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, audit requirements, banking controls, and regulatory obligations.
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related major
- 5+ years of progressive experience in AP / Accounting
- 3+ years in supervising an AP specialist or staff required
- Proficient in MS Office and hands-on experience with Accounting / ERP systems
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Must have strong written and verbal communication internally and externally to a variety of third parties
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Capable of being an effective team member and display initiative
- In-person position 4 days a week and 1 day remote
