About the Accounts Payable Manager Role
The Accounts Payable Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of a high-volume accounts payable function while leading and developing a team of four professionals. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payment processing, maintaining compliance with reporting requirements, and strengthening internal controls and procedures. Reporting into senior accounting leadership, the position serves as a key partner to both accounting and operational teams across the organization. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to drive process improvements, enhance efficiencies, and contribute to the continued success of a growing organization. Role Responsibilities
Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of a high-volume accounts payable department.
Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of accounts payable professionals.
Oversee payment processing, check disbursements, and vendor management activities.
Manage 1099 preparation and reporting requirements.
Coordinate unclaimed property (escheatment) filings and related compliance activities.
Develop and improve accounts payable processes, procedures, and internal controls.
Partner with accounting and operational teams to resolve questions and support business needs.
Monitor department performance and implement best practices to drive efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications
5+ years of accounting and/or accounts payable experience.
2+ years of management or supervisory experience leading accounting or AP teams.
Hands-on experience managing a high-volume accounts payable function.
Strong experience with Yardi is required.
Experience preparing and reporting 1099 filings.
Experience with unclaimed property (escheatment) filings.
Proven ability to improve processes, procedures, and internal controls.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills across accounting and operational stakeholders.
Real Estate or property management industry experience is preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.
