Accounting Specialist, Small Animal Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine: UTIA

The College of Veterinary Medicine invites applicants to apply for the position of Accounting Specialist. The Accounting Specialist is responsible for daily accounting activities within the department.  While maintaining the integrity of the University's fiscal policies and procedures, this position's primary responsibilities are travel reimbursements, accounts payable and receivable, ledger reconciliation, and contract processing. This position also assists the Business Manager in managing a 20-million-dollar expense budget. 

Travel:

• Submits travel requests 
• Processes travel reimbursements (expense reports)
• Monitors departmental travel spending
• Processes conference registrations for payment

Accounts Payable/Receivable, Pay Funding Changes, Equipment:

• Processes procurement card transfer vouchers, invoices, petty cash reimbursement requests, client adjustments, client refunds
• Manually reposts expenses
• Processes entertainment expenses as per UT policy
• Assigns appropriate account and G/L code to accounts payable and transfers 
• Prepares and processes bank deposits
• Makes effort certification entries, obtaining approvals
• Coordinates inventory surplus
• Processes pay/funding changes
• Manages Shelter Medicine and CAIT invoices and payments received
• Creates Purchase Requisitions for equipment and service contracts over $5,000

Procurement/Contracts:

• Distributes procurement card expenses 
• Reconciles procurement card expenses
• Serves as cardholder for conference registration fees for the department 
• Request purchase orders
• Initiate/renew contracts

Gifts, Ledger Reconciliation, Payroll, Other:

• Reviews gifts and verifies account assignment
• Reconciles Center of Excellence and gift accounts
• Updates departmental account list
• Assists Business Manager, faculty, and office staff as needed

Required Qualifications:

• Education: 
  • High school diploma
• Experience: 
  • 2 years of relevant accounting experience 
• Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: 
  • Knowledge of accounting principles. 
  • Knowledge of ERP financial systems. 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Suites. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize. 
  • Ability to solve problems. 
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience: 
  • UT experience preferred. 
• Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: 
  • Knowledge of UT policies and procedures.  
  • Knowledge of DASH.

• Anticipated hiring range: $45K-$52K
