Accounting Specialist

What we are looking for:

The Accounting Specialist provides support to the Finance Department by completing various accounting activities including assisting with the monthly accounting close, assisting with financial analyses and providing back up for various other accounting duties. The incumbent may specialize in all aspects of Accounts Payable.

What you will do:

• Prints and mails Accounts Payable checks.
• Vouchers all Accounts Payable reports as required for closing accounting.
• Assures proper approval of vendor invoices.
• Assigns account distribution coding to invoices received for payment.
• Contacts vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies.
• Reconciles vendor statements.
• Maintains close contact with the Warehouse to ensure received orders are closed on a timely basis.
• Maintains Accounts Payable files.
• Updates ERP system for assigned areas.
• Reconciles accrued payables manual/accrued unvouchered payables/misc. accrued expenses/trade accounts payable
• Validates reports and prepares excel analysis as requested.
• Prepares account reconciliations on an as needed basis.
• Assists with budget and analysis schedules, both monthly and annual.

Who you are:

• Associates degree or equivalent.
• Six months to one-year related experience and/or training.
• On the job training required.
• ERP experience is a plus.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office or have ability to learn these skills rapidly.  Software utilization is required.
• Basic knowledge of applicable regulatory standards, specifically ISO 13485 and/or ISO 9001 or possess the ability to understand and enforce the practices.
• Detail-oriented, self-starter with high attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects/assignment.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to carry out instructions in written or oral form.
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional time management.
