SUMMARY
The Accountant reports directly to the Assistant Controller and is responsible for, and assisting with, a wide variety of accounting and financial tasks. The Accountant should be detail oriented, self motivated and willing to assist with day-to-day accounting operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in Accounting, and a minimum of one (1) year of accounting experience is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Proficient experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Familiarity with basic accounting practices.
Familiarity with accounting software and higher education a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Providing accounting and financial support, including
Preparing account reconciliations of Banking and GL accounts; resolving discrepancies
Daily verification of debits and credits in Bank Accounts
Accounts Receivable
Journal and Data entry and Accurate Record Keeping
Month End, Quarter and Year End tasks
Budgeting and Forecasting
Accounts Payables
Payroll processing
Assisting with Capital project records and capital project correspondence, transactions, and reporting.
Maintaining all College commercial insurance reports and records. Assisting with applications, renewals, and claims.
Assisting Purchasing Clerk as needed, including with assisting in bid process
Assisting Senior Accountant(s) as needed.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills –
Maintaining accounting records
Compiling data and assisting with reporting
Providing customer service to students and staff
Providing support and/or back-up to Administration and Finance operations as assigned by the Director of Budgeting and Finance.
Support with internal and external audits
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and problem solving skills
General administrative tasks
Performing other duties as assigned.
