2027 Program Information

Duquesne Light Company offers summer internships that provide a hands-on, meaningful employment opportunity in a supportive setting that cultivates learning and collaboration.  Duquesne Light’s internship program will provide you with a valuable experience and a solid start to your career in various disciplines.

• Internships are full-time (40 hours/week), paid, and run for 12 weeks (May-August).
• Internships are located in Pittsburgh and follow DLH’s Hybrid Work Model (described below).
• Candidates must be full-time, degree-seeking students enrolled in an accredited college or university and have completed their Sophomore year of studies.
• Candidates must be in good academic standing.
• Candidates must be willing to work the required schedule as defined in the job description.
• Demonstrated leadership ability through studies, employment or extracurricular activities.
• Aptitude for problem solving; strong communication skills.

Overall Purpose:

DLC’s Finance department oversees the Company’s budget and finances so that DLC can effectively meet its goals and objectives – primarily, to provide superior electrical service throughout Allegheny and Beaver counties. 

The Accounting intern will focus primarily on accounting and reporting projects (rolling forward financial statements, running monthly reporting for the team, reconciliations, low risk journal entries, etc) as well as other finance projects as needed (tax, Accounts Payable clean up, other AR aging follow up, etc). 

Education/Experience:

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a BS or MS program in Accounting. 

Skills/Abilities:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.  Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.

Hybrid Work:

All internships follow our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Interns must be in the immediate Pittsburgh area for the summer. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.

Other:
