Treasury Analyst

Are you a treasury professional who thrives on solving complex financial challenges and driving operational excellence? As a Treasury Analyst, you will serve as a key technical expert in cash management, banking operations, reconciliations, merchant services, and treasury controls. In this role, you will partner across the organization to resolve complex banking and reconciliation issues, strengthen treasury processes, and support the effective management of deposit liabilities, letters of credit and bonds. Your expertise will help ensure accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement across the organization’s treasury functions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as a technical resource for cash handling, deposit liabilities, letters of credit, bonds and related treasury procedures
• Provide advice and guidance to all departments on accounting for cash transactions and cash handling controls, deposit liability administration, and treasury procedures
• Prepare and maintain working papers, journal entries, interest allocations, and support documentation related to treasury activities
• Support day-to-day banking relationships and act as a contact for banking service inquiries
• Coordinate payment processes with external vendors and departments, ensuring proper receipt of funds and accurate accounting
• Review and process Electronic Data Interchange returns, Electronic Funds Transfer returns, and stop payment requests, and monitor banking activity for unusual transactions, fraud indicators, and operational risks
• Coordinate the review and resolution of complex banking, reconciliation, and treasury-related issues 
• Perform complex analysis of cash-related accounts, banking activity, deposit liabilities, interest allocations, and reconciliation of items to identify variances, risks, trends, and required corrective action
• Research auditor inquiries, compile support, prepare clear responses, and identify related process or control improvements
• Review treasury processes, controls and financial close activities, and recommend and support improvements that increase efficiency, strengthen controls, improve accuracy, and enhance service
• Provide technical support for cash management, banking operations, reconciliations, deposit liabilities, merchant services, point-of-sale implementations, and related treasury processes
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with departments to facilitate communication and understanding between lines of business

Qualifications and Skills:

• Post secondary diploma in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field, with a minimum of three years experience in treasury, accounting, banking or financial analysis
• Experience in Oracle Financials is preferred
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products
• Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial statement reporting, financial principles, and audit standards is essential
• Knowledge of banking operations, merchant services, reconciliation processes, deposit liabilities, letters of credit, bonds, audit support and interest allocation processes
• Strong customer service skills are required, including the ability to communicate effectively in a discreet, diplomatic, and professional manner
• Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex issues, determine appropriate action, and make recommendations within established policies and procedures
• Experience working with municipal, public sector, government or highly regulated financial environments is considered an asset.
