Say HI* – to your career as Trade Compliance Manager At the Herstal site, with occasional visits to the Tubize site In Herstal , you will join more than 250 colleagues specialized in the design, development, production and supply of weapon systems and ammunitions for use by customers in the Defense (MoD), Aerospace (OEM) and Land (OEM) sectors. With the Guided Rocket in the portfolio additional market’s segments are now addressed like Ground-to-Ground applications or Counter-UAS. In Tubize , you will join more than 350 colleagues recognized by domestic and international partners for expertise on products such as Radio Frequency (RF) Products, C4ISR, Crypto Global Solution, MACS (Aeronautical Intercom) and many others. Your mission As Trade Compliance Analyst, you will join a multidisciplinary team of 6 people within the Trade Compliance function, which is part of the larger Legal, Contracts & Compliance Department. The Trade Compliance Team ensures organization’s compliance with applicable international trade laws and regulations. This includes managing import/export control requirements, maintaining required documentation, conducting compliance reviews, and supporting audits and training to reduce regulatory, operational, and reputational risk. The team also provides support on customs matters and transport of various products in the technological and defence fields Your key responsibilities Import/Export control compliance Ensure compliance with all applicable Belgian and international export and import regulations, sanctions, embargoes; Review and approve export/import transactions to confirm licensing, restrictions, and documentation requirements are met. Classify and validate product classifications (e.g.: ML code, HS code, … where applicable) in coordination with technical teams. Support determination and documentation of origin [valuation [and duty/tax assessments as applicable] Sanctions & restricted parties screening Conduct screening of customers, suppliers and other counter-parties against relevant restricted party and sanctions lists. Assess whether transactions are permissible and escalate potential violations or discrepancies. Maintain screening records and ensure screening processes are followed. Licensing, Authorizations, and Documentation Prepare and submit applications for Belgian and foreign export and import licenses and authorizations. Maintain complete audit-ready records for shipments and compliance decisions. Prepare and validate End-use/end-user documentation. Support investigations of compliance exceptions and implement corrective actions. Training, Policies, and Procedures Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on compliance requirements for products, markets, and shipment activities. Assist the Trade Compliance Officer with the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of trade compliance policies, procedures, and standard work instructions. Provide training to other departments, such as the logistics, procurement, sales and engineering department. Promote a culture of compliance and reporting Exercise a duty to alert by informing the Trade Compliance Officer of any suspected or proven non-compliance; We are looking forward to Bachelor or master degree in foreign trade, logistics, transport or law or to have equivalent experience in the field of Trade Compliance; Strong working knowledge of Belgian export and import regulations as well as of specific regional regimes, e.g., U.S. (ITAR), Germany (BAFA), UK, etc.. relevant to the organization’s operations. Knowledge of the customs sector is not required but will be considered as an asset Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills with the ability to advise non-compliance stakeholders Team spirit Demonstrate rigor, anticipation, organization and sense of responsibility Be able to deal with unforeseen situations, be reactive, able to find solutions quickly and make decisions Fluency in English and French (written and spoken). Knoweledge of other languages is an asset Geographic mobility, between Herstal and Tubize (on occasions) Possibility for home working (1 to 2 days per week) Thales is a global technology leader with more than 81,000 employees on five continents.
