Make an Impact Where Legal Strategy, Compliance and Business Come Together
Esaote North America is seeking an experienced and business-minded Legal & Compliance Manager to play a key role in protecting the organization, enabling commercial growth, and strengthening our U.S. legal and compliance framework.
This is a broad, high-impact individual-contributor position for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of commercial contracts, healthcare compliance, HIPAA and data privacy, regulatory risk, and business operations.
Reporting to the CFO, the Legal & Compliance Manager will work closely with leaders and stakeholders across the organization to help the business navigate complex contractual and regulatory matters while maintaining practical, commercially focused solutions.
The role is particularly well suited to a professional who can balance strong legal and compliance judgment with the realities of operating in a fast-moving business environment.
What You’ll Do
You will take ownership of several critical areas of Esaote North America’s legal and compliance activities, including:
- Lead commercial contract review and negotiation, including purchase, distribution, licensing, confidentiality, vendor, and other business agreements.
- Serve as HIPAA Privacy Officer, supporting HIPAA Privacy and Security compliance, privacy questionnaires, incident response, and related U.S. data privacy requirements.
- Provide U.S.-focused legal and commercial risk guidance to business leaders and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor relevant federal, state, and local regulatory developments and help translate changing requirements into practical business actions.
- Draft, implement, maintain, and improve compliance policies and procedures.
- Develop standardized contracts, legal templates, and framework documents designed to improve consistency and reduce organizational risk.
- Maintain legal and compliance documentation, contract records, and other repositories to support strong governance and audit readiness.
- Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, IT, Procurement, Human Resources, Sales, and other functions as appropriate.
- Communicate complex contractual, privacy, and compliance matters clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
- Support additional legal and compliance initiatives as business needs evolve.
Commercial contract drafting and negotiation represents the largest component of the position, alongside substantial HIPAA/privacy and legal-risk responsibilities.
What You Bring
We are looking for someone who combines technical expertise with sound judgment, confidence, professionalism, and a practical approach to problem-solving.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Business, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of legal, contracts, or compliance experience within a regulated U.S. industry, preferably healthcare or medical technology.
- Strong experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Working knowledge of healthcare compliance, HIPAA, data privacy, and commercial legal principles.
- Strong analytical and risk-assessment capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex legal and compliance concepts to business stakeholders in clear, practical terms.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- High degree of discretion, confidentiality, ethical judgment, and attention to detail.
Preferred qualifications:
- JD, MBA, master’s degree, or other relevant advanced education.
- Healthcare or medical technology industry experience.
- Experience with contract lifecycle management platforms such as Ironclad, DocuSign CLM, or similar technology.
- Familiarity with ERP platforms such as SAP or NetSuite.
- Knowledge of compliance and privacy-management systems.
- Familiarity with legal research platforms such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
The underlying job description specifically calls for a bachelor’s degree, identifies an advanced degree or JD as preferred, and establishes a minimum of two years of regulated-industry legal or compliance experience.
What Success Looks Like
The successful Legal & Compliance Manager will be someone who:
- Protects the company without unnecessarily slowing the business.
- Approaches contract negotiations with both legal discipline and commercial awareness.
- Identifies risk early and provides leaders with clear options and recommendations.
- Creates practical, scalable processes rather than relying on one-off solutions.
- Establishes credibility with senior leaders, employees, vendors, business partners, and outside counsel.
- Maintains exceptionally high standards of integrity and confidentiality.
- Is comfortable taking ownership and working independently while collaborating effectively across functions.
Work Environment
This position follows a hybrid work model, with employees typically working in the Fishers office approximately three days per week, depending on business and collaboration needs.
Because the position handles confidential contracts, privacy matters, and other sensitive information, the successful candidate must maintain an appropriate secure workspace when working remotely.
Travel is expected to be less than 10% and may include occasional vendor meetings, company meetings, audits, conferences, training, or professional development.
Why This Role
This is an opportunity to take on meaningful ownership in a role with visibility across the organization. Rather than focusing on a single area of compliance, you will have the opportunity to influence commercial contracting, privacy, regulatory compliance, risk management, policy development, and business decision-making.
For the right professional, it offers an attractive combination of autonomy, variety, business exposure, and the opportunity to help shape a strong compliance culture.
Equal Opportunity Employer
Esaote North America is committed to diversity and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national
