The Trade Compliance Analyst is responsible for supporting and enhancing the company's global trade compliance program by ensuring compliance with U.S. and Canadian customs regulations, free trade agreements, tariff classification, trade data governance, and export compliance requirements. This role will serve as a subject matter expert in customs compliance, partners across the organization and with other functions to mitigate regulatory risk and drive continuous improvement of trade compliance processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities
Customs Operations & Broker Management
- Manage customs brokers and assist with day-to-day customs operations for both the United States and Canada to resolve customs clearance issues and support timely shipment release.
- Review and monitor customs entries to ensure compliance with applicable customs regulations and company policies.
- Assign Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications for products imported into the United States and Canada.
- Partner with Engineering, Product Management, and Procurement teams to classify new products and support business initiatives.
- Support audit and post-entry activities, including corrections, customs audits as necessary.
- Support system enhancements, data validation, testing activities, and continuous process improvement initiatives within SAP GTS.
- Support the evaluation and administration of free trade agreements
- Conduct country of origin determinations in accordance with applicable customs regulations and trade agreement requirements.
- Work with technical experts to determine eligibility for preferential free trade agreements and draft certification documents.
Export Compliance
- Assist with various export control matters, with focus on compliance with the Department of State International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and the Department of Commerce Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
- Assist with operational export compliance activities such as SAP GTS monitoring and release, restricted party screening, and export documentation compliance.
- Provide trade compliance guidance and training to business stakeholders as needed.
Qualifications
MUST HAVE
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong knowledge of trade compliance, including customs regulations, trade agreements, customs valuation, HTS classification principles, and import procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
WE VALUE
- Professional certifications such as Licensed Customs Broker (LCB), Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), Certified Export Specialist (CES), or similar trade compliance credentials.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, SAP ERP, SAP GTS, and Power BI.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in customs compliance, customs brokerage, or international trade compliance. Experience working with Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) reports and import compliance analytics.
- Experience supporting both U.S. and Canadian customs compliance programs.
- Working knowledge of export controls, ITAR, EAR, denied-party screening, and Sanctions compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to identify potential compliance concerns before they occur and proactively implement solutions.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across departments including Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, Finance, Logistics, and Legal.
COMPENSATION
The annual base salary range for this position is $75016k - $93829k. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
