What You Will Do as a Staff Tax Accountant
- Prepare a wide range of tax returns, including corporate, partnership, and individual returns, demonstrating attention to detail and accuracy.
- Conduct tax planning and research to identify opportunities for tax savings and minimize tax liabilities for our clients.
- Collaborate with clients to gather necessary tax-related information, address inquiries, and provide exceptional client service.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and incorporate any relevant updates into tax strategies.
- Assist in the resolution of tax-related issues and inquiries from tax authorities on behalf of our clients.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of tax processes and procedures, identifying opportunities for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior team members.
- Participate in SMG ABA team-building and other firm events/efforts
Qualifications and Attributes You Will Need
- Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in tax preparation and planning, preferably in a public accounting firm.
- Intermediate knowledge of tax rules and regulations.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA license is a plus.
- Proficient in tax software and accounting systems, with a good understanding of technology tools used in tax preparation and research.
- Great analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex tax scenarios and provide innovative solutions.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate tax concepts to clients and colleagues.
- Client-focused mindset, dedicated to delivering exceptional service and further developing & maintaining long-term client relationships.
- Detail-oriented and deadline-driven, ensuring accuracy and timely completion of tax deliverables.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
