Scope of Position
Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. This position plays a key role in supporting the company's accounting and financial operations across multiple business entities and locations. Reporting to the Finance & HR Director, the Staff Accountant will help ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain accounting records, support budgeting and forecasting efforts, and contribute to process improvements that strengthen financial controls and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This individual will possess a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, excellent Excel skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering accurate and timely financial information.
Responsibilities
General Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Prepare and maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Support the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and corporate reporting packages.
- Collaborate with the Finance & HR Director to prepare financial reports and disclosures for executive leadership and corporate headquarters.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances.
- Perform intercompany and intracompany account reconciliations across multiple entities and locations.
Accounts Receivable
- Prepare and process customer invoices accurately and on schedule.
- Reconcile accounts receivable balances and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding invoices, payments, and account status.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and assist with collection activities as needed.
Accounts Payable & Cash Management
- Process vendor invoices and assist with payment processing.
- Reconcile bank accounts, corporate credit cards, and cash accounts.
- Maintain accurate vendor records and payment schedules.
- Assist in managing daily cash transactions and supporting treasury activities.
Payroll Administration
- Support payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate employee payments.
- Assist with payroll reconciliations and payroll-related reporting.
- Ensure compliance with applicable payroll regulations and statutory requirements.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis
- Assist in developing annual operating budgets.
- Support periodic financial forecasting and variance analysis.
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analyses for management.
- Participate in strategic financial initiatives and special projects.
Process Improvement & Internal Controls
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures and financial workflows.
- Support the implementation of enhanced internal controls and best practices.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives that support organizational growth and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- 3-4 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and financial analysis.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and business leaders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Public accounting or external audit experience.
- Experience using NetSuite ERP or comparable enterprise accounting systems.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
