Staff Accountant

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting is seeking a Staff Accountant with prior nonprofit industry experience. This is a hands-on role supporting day-to-day accounting operations as well as the month-end close process.

Responsibilities

• Process and support accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Assist with payroll processing
• Prepare and process customer/client billing
• Review and process employee expense reports
• Prepare account and balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with month-end close, including journal entries and supporting schedules
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
• Provide documentation and schedules for internal and external audits
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies
• Support additional accounting and finance projects as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
• Prior nonprofit industry accounting experience required
• Hands-on experience with AP, AR, payroll, billing, reconciliations, and month-end close
• Experience supporting financial audits
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general accounting systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
