Position Summary
The Senior Accountant at AVP SEES is responsible for overseeing key accounting functions and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting across the organization. This role will perform month-end close activities, payroll accounting, lease accounting, inventory accounting, and various financial compliance requirements while supporting the organization's continued growth. The Senior Accountant will collaborate cross-functionally with finance, operations, clinical, payroll, and leadership teams.
The ideal candidate possesses strong GAAP accounting knowledge, healthcare or medical inventory experience, and a proactive approach to process improvement.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting
- Perform month-end close processes specifically but not limited to areas such as fixed assets, leases, and payroll to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare, review, and reconcile general ledger accounts and supporting schedules.
- Assist with daily accounting projects, process improvements, and special initiatives as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and applicable regulations.
Payroll Accounting
- Oversee payroll accounting activities for AVP and SEES entities.
- Reconcile payroll-related accounts and ensure accurate recording of payroll transactions, benefits, taxes, and accruals.
- Partner with Human Resources and Payroll teams to resolve discrepancies and support audit requirements.
Medical Inventory Accounting
- Maintain accounting records and controls related to medical and optical inventory.
- Monitor inventory valuation, reconciliations, and inventory-related financial reporting.
- Partner with operational leaders to ensure inventory accuracy and effective inventory management practices.
- Healthcare inventory accounting experience is strongly preferred.
Lease Accounting
- Maintain accounting records for equipment leases across the organization, excluding leases managed by CBRE.
- Ensure compliance with ASC 842 lease accounting standards.
- Manage lease schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Partner with operational teams to track new lease activity and modifications.
Tax & Regulatory Compliance
- Assist with business license registrations, renewals, and compliance requirements across operating locations.
- Coordinate and maintain property tax filings and related documentation.
- Assist with external audits and requests from regulatory agencies.
Team Leadership
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Assist in workload prioritization and departmental planning.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
- Experience managing month-end close processes.
- Experience with payroll accounting and account reconciliations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- Experience in healthcare, medical practice management, or optical eye care organizations.
- Experience accounting for medical or healthcare-related inventory.
- Knowledge and practical application of ASC 842 lease accounting.
- Experience with business licenses and property tax compliance.
- Sage Intacct experience strongly preferred.
