About The Role
The Senior Financial Analyst serves as a strategic business partner to Accounting/Finance and operational leaders across the organization. This position is responsible for developing financial models, performing complex analyses, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, and delivering actionable insights that drive organizational performance and informed decision-making. This role requires strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and relationship-building skills, along with a commitment to accuracy, efficiency, accountability, and continuous process improvement. This role is viewed not only as an analyst, but as a strategic support who contributes meaningfully to VCCU’s financial performance and long-term growth.
This is a key member of the Analytics team and requires onsite work at VCCU’s Ventura Headquarters.
What You’ll Do
Financial Analysis & Modeling
- Develop, maintain, and enhance financial models used for budgeting, forecasting, profitability analysis, strategic planning, and decision support.
- Perform complex financial analyses and publishable ad hoc reporting to management to support executive and departmental decision-making.
- Analyze financial and operational trends, identify anomalies, investigate root causes, and provide actionable recommendations.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance profitability models for member products and services, including new offerings, while identifying key performance drivers and providing detailed profitability analysis at the product, member, channel, and portfolio levels.
- Perform variance, profitability, trend, and sensitivity analyses to evaluate financial performance and support strategic decision-making.
Asset/Liability Management & Risk Analysis
- Support Asset/Liability Management (ALM) reporting and related financial analyses.
- Assist in loan portfolio, deposit portfolio, liquidity, and concentration risk analysis.
- Support financial forecasting and scenario analysis related to balance sheet management and strategic initiatives.
Business Intelligence & Reporting
- Partner with business stakeholders and Information Technology teams to develop accurate, scalable, and sustainable data solutions that support reporting and analytical needs.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, automated reporting solutions, and performance scorecards.
- Improve the visibility of business, product, and departmental performance through effective reporting tools and analytics.
- Ensure reports and analyses are accurate, timely, well-documented, and aligned with management needs.
- Troubleshoot data integrity issues, data gaps, and report discrepancies while partnering with data owners to implement sustainable solutions.
Communication & Presentation
- Partner with department leaders to provide meaningful forecasting, financial reporting, business intelligence, and analytical support. Serve as a trusted advisor by providing clear, data-driven insights that support strategic and operational initiatives.
- Present financial analyses, forecasts, profitability reporting, and business recommendations to management in a clear and compelling manner. Use data-driven storytelling techniques to communicate findings and drive informed decision-making.
- Translate complex financial concepts into understandable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Process Improvement & Quality Control
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures that improve the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of financial analyses and reporting.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes, standardize methodologies, and automate financial and profitability reporting to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Develop documentation, procedures, and controls that support scalability.
- Promote best practices in financial modeling, documentation, version control, and analytical methodologies.
What We’re Seeking
- 5 years’ directly related experience is required, including experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, business intelligence, or related analytical functions. Strong financial modeling, quantitative analysis, and problem-solving skills is required for success in this role.
- Prior experience in a credit union, bank, or other Financial Institution is strongly preferred.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis, including complex formulas, data modeling, Power Query, and financial modeling best practices
- Experience with business intelligence platforms, data visualization tools, and automated reporting solutions.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, Statistics, or a related field. Equivalent directly related experience will be accepted in lieu of degree.

- Experience with SQL, Access, Crystal reports preferred.
- Experience presenting analytical findings to senior leadership, committees, or executive teams.
