Senior Staff Accountant

We’re searching for our Sacramento based client a hands-on Senior Staff Accountant who’s ready to build breadth across AP, AR, and General Ledger in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for someone who wants high exposure, high learning, and real ownership within the accounting function.

You’ll support core accounting operations, help drive a clean month-end close, and strengthen financial accuracy across the organization.

• Salary : $85,000-$95,000 per year (DOE)
• Role Type: Direct Hire 100% onsite.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end and year-end close (journal entries, accruals, reconciliations).
• Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations with clear documentation.
• Assist with variance analysis and investigation of discrepancies.
• Provide backup support for AP/AR: invoice processing, billing, cash application.
• Resolve AP/AR discrepancies and ensure clean subledger tie-outs.
• Perform reconciliations across key accounts and maintain audit-ready files.
• Partner with the team to ensure alignment between subledgers and the GL.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and reduce manual work.
• Support ERP and system optimization (D365, Excel-based workflows).
• Contribute to SOPs and standard work documentation.

Skills & Qualifications

• 1–3+ years of accounting experience (AP, AR, GL, reconciliations).
• Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivots, basic analysis).
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance preferred.
• Manufacturing or operational environment experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred).
• Adaptable, collaborative, and eager to grow into broader accounting ownership.
