Responsibilities
- Audit and validate payroll data for accuracy, including timekeeping records and employee changes such as hires, terminations, transfers, and compensation updates.
- Process payroll in rotation for 5,000+ employees across multiple locations and pay cycles (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly), ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Manage payroll tax filings and year-end reporting (including W-2s), and reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts.
- Maintain and audit payroll records, document and communicate processes, and support internal and external audit requirements.
- Partner with HR, Finance, and Benefits to ensure data accuracy and resolve complex payroll inquiries related to pay, deductions, and garnishments.
- Identify and drive process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and standardization across payroll operations.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to payroll team members and support knowledge sharing across the organization.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of payroll processing experience, with at least 1 year in a senior or lead role.
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in payroll software, UKG preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage confidential data with a high level of integrity.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred.
- Experience with multi-state payroll preferred.
