What you will do
Technical Accounting Leadership: Provide technical accounting leadership and oversight for complex areas such as capital and fixed assets, intercompany accounting, third-party revenue, and other emerging accounting matters. Guide staff on complex transactions, non-routine accounting judgments, and technical standards, serving as the primary technical resource for supervised areas.
Month-End Close, Reporting, and Analysis: Review staff journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for adherence to GAAP and internal policies, ensuring close activities are completed accurately and on schedule. Prepare or review schedules, disclosures, and supporting documentation for financial statements, auditors, and senior management. Assist with complex variance analysis and provide clear explanations of budget versus actual results across revenue and expense areas.
Internal Controls and Process Improvement: Develop, maintain, and evaluate accounting procedures and internal controls for supervised areas, and recommend and implement improvements that strengthen compliance, accuracy, and efficiency.
Analytics, Automation, and Technology Enablement: Build and maintain reporting using analytics and business intelligence tools to support management reporting and close analytics. Identify opportunities to automate manual or repetitive accounting tasks using low-code or no-code tools, and lead or support implementation in partnership with Finance Systems or Technology Digital Solutions. Explore how Company approved AI-enabled tools and large language model applications can be applied to accounting workflows, and develop dashboards and self-service reports that reduce ad hoc requests and improve timely insights.
People Leadership and Team Development: Supervise personnel including work planning, performance evaluations, conflict resolution, interviewing, and hiring recommendations. Provide or arrange training for direct reports, support onboarding of new personnel, and develop staff capability in both technical accounting and the use of analytics and productivity tools. Monitor work schedules and staffing levels to ensure departmental needs are consistently met.
Cross-Functional Partnership and Customer Support: Respond to accounting and reporting questions from operating departments and senior management in a courteous and timely manner.
