Opportunity

The Sr. Manager - U.S. Accounting & Consolidation is responsible for leading Kohler Co.'s U.S. accounting, legal consolidation, close, reporting, reconciliation, and audit support activities. The role ensures timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting while maintaining strong balance sheet governance, internal controls, and reporting consistency across legal entities and operating businesses.

This position serves as a key partner to Corporate Finance, Business Controllers, Tax, Treasury, Internal Audit, GSS, and Information Technology to support the integrity of financial results and drive continuous improvement across accounting and consolidation processes. The Sr. Manager provides leadership to the accounting and consolidation team while fostering a culture of accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

U.S. Accounting & Financial Close

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual U.S. accounting close activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Coordinate accounting activities across corporate functions and business units to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies and U.S. GAAP.
• Review financial results and significant account fluctuations, providing analysis and recommendations to management.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Monitor key balance sheet accounts and reserves, driving timely resolution of reconciling items and accounting issues.
• Support implementation and ongoing compliance with new accounting guidance and reporting requirements.

Consolidation & Reporting

• Lead execution of legal consolidation activities, including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, and intercompany reporting.
• Maintain the integrity of legal entity reporting structures, chart of accounts governance, and consolidation system master data.
• Coordinate reporting submissions across domestic and international entities to support consolidated financial reporting.
• Prepare and review recurring management reporting, statutory reporting support, and financial analyses.
• Provide accounting guidance related to legal entity reporting, intercompany accounting, and consolidation matters.

Audit, Controls & Compliance

• Serve as a primary liaison for external audit requests and support annual audit activities.
• Coordinate statutory audit support for domestic and international legal entities.
• Maintain strong internal controls supporting accounting and financial reporting processes.
• Partner with Internal Audit and process owners to address control findings and remediation activities.
• Support development, implementation, and governance of accounting and finance policies.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, U.S. GAAP, and regulatory reporting requirements.

Business Partnership & Leadership

• Partner with Controllers, Corporate Finance, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, Internal Audit, Legal, HR, IT, and GSS teams to support financial reporting and business decision-making.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to business and finance leaders on accounting and reporting matters.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve financial processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
• Support enterprise projects involving ERP systems, consolidation tools, automation, and data governance.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify and implement opportunities to streamline accounting, consolidation, and reporting processes.
• Drive standardization and best practices across accounting and close activities.
• Utilize technology and automation to improve productivity, reporting quality, and control effectiveness.
• Measure and monitor key close and reporting performance metrics.

Talent Leadership

• Lead and develop accounting and consolidation team members through coaching, performance management, and development planning.
• Build organizational capability in technical accounting, reporting, controls, and financial analysis.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and Own It leadership behaviors.
• Support succession planning and talent development within the Finance organization.

Skills/Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive accounting, reporting, consolidation, audit, or controllership experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading month-end close, balance sheet governance, legal consolidation, and financial reporting processes.
• Prior people leadership experience required.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, financial reporting, and audit processes.
• Experience working in a global, multi-entity environment preferred.
• Experience with ERP, consolidation, and reporting systems preferred.

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation.
