The Senior General Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting by managing general ledger activities, overseeing the accounts receivable process, performing reconciliations, and assisting the month-end close process. This role supports effective cash flow and strong internal controls over open balances and collections.
- Record and review revenue streams (Rooms, F&B, Events, Spa, Other outlets)
- Ensure proper daily revenue postings align with POS and PMS systems
- Support preparation of monthly financial statements for property performance
- Oversee billing and collection for:
- Group sales & events
- Travel agencies / third-party bookings
- Reconcile daily revenue reports (night audit) to accounting records
- Monitor guest ledger and city ledger balances
- Manage AR aging and follow up on overdue balances
- Resolve discrepancies between PMS (Property Management System) and accounting system
- Ensure accurate handling of advance deposits and customer credits
- Reconcile daily cash, credit card, and cash clearing accounts
- Review and reconcile merchant settlements and credit card deposits
- Investigate variances between POS systems and bank deposits
- Ensure all daily revenue (night audit) postings are complete and accurate
- Support month-end close in alignment with hotel reporting timelines
- Prepare sales tax and lodging tax reporting
- Support internal/external audits
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
- 1+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and AR processes
- Understanding of hotel revenue streams (rooms, F&B, events, ancillary services)
- Experience reconciling PMS, POS, and financial systems
- Knowledge of night audit processes and daily revenue reporting
- Familiarity with lodging tax, sales tax, and hospitality compliance requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to meet deadlines, especially during month-end and peak seasons
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and cross-functionally
- Primarily involves working at a computer workstation
- Requires frequent use of typing, data entry, and operating office equipment
- Occasional standing, walking, and moving between departments (e.g., front office, finance, operations areas)
- Ability to lift and carry light items such as files or documents (up to 10–15 pounds)
- May require visual focus for reviewing detailed financial reports and spreadsheets
- Occasional need to reach, bend, or file documents in office storage systems
- Ability to work extended hours during month-end, year-end close, or peak hospitality seasons
- May involve limited on-site presence in operational areas (e.g., cashier points, front desk) to support audits or reconciliations
- Exposure to a fast-paced hotel/resort environment, especially during peak seasons, requiring flexibility and adaptability
- Primarily based in an office setting within a hotel, resort, or corporate finance department
- Requires frequent work at a computer workstation, utilizing accounting and hospitality systems (Delphi, Opera, Micros)
- Regular interaction with cross-functional teams, including front office, sales, operations, and management
- May involve periodic presence in operational areas (e.g., front desk, restaurants, cashier points) to support reconciliations, audits, or issue resolution
- Fast-paced environment with activity levels that fluctuate based on seasonality and occupancy
- Requires ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines, particularly during month-end, year-end close, and peak seasons
- Collaborative team setting that supports finance operations and business decision-making
- May require occasional extended hours during close cycles, audits, or high-demand periods
