We are looking for 2 professionals to join our Financial Control team. One role will focus on Sales & Royalty processes, while the second role will focus on Vendor Allowances. Your new team
As Senior Financial Controller, you will be joining our Finance team. You will be part of an international environment supporting financial control, reporting, compliance, and process improvement activities across Europe.
You ensure the correct accounting, allocation, and timing of promotional activities contributing to both optimal commercial performance and accurate financial reporting. In addition, you safeguard that supplier agreements are translated accurately into the financial administration and reporting processes.
During the monthly close, you play a coordinating role across multiple teams: ensuring a complete, accurate, and auditable view within both the P&L and balance sheet. You analyze variances, manage accruals, and ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and financial control standards.
You work as part of a dynamic team of financial controllers collectively responsible for the financial performance of Albert Heijn. Within this team, you act as a key business partner and subject matter expert on vendor allowances / sales&royalty, delivering insights that directly support decision-making and drive financial results.
Key focus areas of your role
Your role is highly diverse and encompasses various responsibilities. Here are the key ones:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of financial control and reporting policies.
- Ensure alignment with corporate policies, procedures, and local requirements.
- Coordinate audits with external auditors and tax departments.
- Plan, prepare, monitor, and execute financial closing activities.
- Consolidate reporting and analyses and ensure correct application of reporting standards.
- Lead account sign-off activities and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Identify, propose, and implement process improvements and innovative solutions.
- Participate in and coordinate projects to establish effective financial processes and ways of working.
- You act as the financial point of contact for the Business Controllers of the units for which you are responsible during the close process. You resolve financial and accounting issues together with colleagues, Business Controllers, and the outsourced service provider (Genpact in India).
- You liaise with the Dutch external auditors during the annual financial statement process.

The ingredients you bring

- At least 8 years of relevant experience in Financial Control, Accounting, Reporting, or Finance
- Experience within an international and matrix organization
- Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Economics, or a related field
- Strong analytical skills, financial reporting expertise, and experience driving process improvements
