About the Role: The Senior Director of Finance and Operations partners closely with executive leadership to develop long-term financial strategies, manage organizational risk, support business growth, oversee capital investments, and ensure the organization's facilities and technology infrastructure effectively support employees, clients, and operations. As the role matures, the Senior Director will take on a growing partnership with the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer on organizational budgeting and strategic planning, and will increasingly represent finance and operations directly to the Board of Directors.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

Finance & Strategic Leadership (60%)

• Serve as a strategic partner to the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Executive Leadership Team in advancing organizational goals, operational effectiveness, and long-term sustainability.
• Collaborate with the CEO and COO on the development of annual budgets and multi-year strategic plans, with growing responsibility for shaping financial strategy recommendations that inform board-level decision-making.
• Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of the organization's annual operating and capital budgets, financial forecasts, and long-range financial plans. 
• Present financial reports, key performance indicators, and organizational risk assessments to executive leadership. Over time, take on a more prominent role delivering budget updates, financial forecasts, and strategic planning presentations directly to the full Board of Directors.
• Provide strategic financial analysis and recommendations to support organizational growth, program expansion, funding opportunities, and capital investments. 
• Evaluate prospective contracts, funding opportunities, and business initiatives to assess financial viability, operational impact, and organizational risk. 
• Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, treasury management, fixed assets, cash management, and financial reporting. 
• Ensure adequate cash flow and liquidity to support organizational operations and strategic initiatives. 
• Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal control systems that safeguard organizational assets and promote sound fiscal management. 
• Oversee employee benefits, insurance programs, compensation structures, and financial analyses that support employee recruitment, retention, and organizational competitiveness. 
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, grant, contractual, and regulatory requirements, including interpretation and communication of applicable laws and regulations. 
• Lead the organization's annual audit process, oversee external auditor relationships, and ensure timely preparation of audited financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements. 
• Oversee the administration and compliance of federal grants, government funding, retirement plans, and other financial programs. 

Information & Technology (20%)

• Provide strategic oversight of the organization's technology infrastructure, systems, cybersecurity initiatives, and digital transformation efforts. 
• Develop and execute a technology roadmap that aligns with organizational objectives and operational needs. 
• Oversee IT vendors, software platforms, network infrastructure, data security, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity initiatives. 
• Evaluate, implement, and optimize technology solutions that improve operational efficiency, reporting capabilities, service delivery, and data management. 
• Ensure compliance with information security standards, privacy regulations, and organizational technology policies.

Facilities & Operations (20%)

• Provide oversight of facility operations, maintenance, capital improvement projects, safety programs, and property management activities. 
• Ensure all facilities are safe, well-maintained, code compliant, and capable of supporting organizational operations and future growth. 
• Develop and manage facilities operating and capital budgets while overseeing vendor contracts and service agreements. 
• Lead facility planning, renovation, expansion, and infrastructure improvement initiatives. 
• Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. 
• Oversee organizational asset management, physical security measures, emergency preparedness planning, and operational risk mitigation strategies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, compliance, and strategic planning. 
• Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience managing multiple functional areas and leading high-performing teams.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, U.S. GAAP, grant management, federal funding requirements, and financial compliance regulations.
• Mission-driven leader with a commitment to serving vulnerable populations and advancing organizational impact.
• Expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
• Experience overseeing the financial operations of a complex nonprofit, healthcare, behavioral health, social services, or similarly regulated organization preferred.
• Demonstrated experience managing organizational audits, grant compliance, federal and state funding, internal controls, and risk management.
• Experience overseeing Information Technology operations, cybersecurity initiatives, technology vendors, and enterprise systems preferred.
• Experience managing facilities operations, capital projects, vendor contracts, and workplace safety initiatives preferred.
• Supervise staff, including regular progress reviews and plans for improvement.
• Analyze and use data, risk management and forecasting methods

Pay Transparency: The salary range for this position is $150,000-$190,000. The final rate may be influenced by factors such as position’s scope and responsibilities, work experience, training, education, job-related skills, internal equity, and market conditions.
