- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger in an accurate and timely manner.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations, including balance sheet accounts, grants, payroll, benefits, prepaid expenses, accruals, and other key accounts.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare internal financial reports, schedules, and analyses for leadership.
- Support budget development, budget-to-actual analysis, and forecasting.
- Monitor grant-related revenues and expenses to ensure proper accounting and compliance with grant restrictions.
- Assist with preparation of financial reports for federal, state, and private grants.
- Support audit preparation and respond to auditor requests for schedules, documentation, and analyses.
- Maintain internal controls and assist with process improvements to strengthen financial accuracy and efficiency.
- Review coding and support proper classification of expenses and revenues.
- Assist with payroll-related accounting, benefits reconciliations, and accruals as needed.
- Help ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and FQHC-related reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with program, operations, and leadership teams to support financial decision-making.
- Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, FQHC, or grant-funded accounting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
- Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience with federal grants, Uniform Guidance, and fund accounting.
- Prior work in a community health center, FQHC, or healthcare nonprofit.
- Experience supporting audits and nonprofit compliance requirements.
- CPA or CPA track preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance staff.
