The Senior Accountant is a key member of the Corporate Accounting team, responsible for supporting the month-end and year-end close process, preparing and reviewing account reconciliations, and assisting with financial reporting across Summit’s multi-entity structure. This role works closely with the Assistant Controller and Controller on a broad range of accounting, compliance, and operational finance activities.  This position will be based in our Irvine, CA corporate office located close to John Wayne Airport. This is an in office position 5 days per week with light flexibility.

Responsibilities:

·       Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and reclassifications as part of the monthly close process across multiple entities.

·       Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances in a timely manner.

·       Support the preparation of intercompany transactions and assist with elimination entries.

·       Assist in maintaining and reconciling the fixed asset subledger, including additions, disposals, and depreciation.

·       Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting packages.

·       Perform variance analysis on income statement and balance sheet accounts and provide explanations to management.

·       Support the preparation of schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.

·       Assist with revenue recognition reconciliation.

·       Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and GAAP standards.

·       Assist with documentation and maintenance of accounting policies and standard operating procedures.

·       Utilize ERP systems (Sage Intacct or similar) and Adaptive Insights for data entry, reporting, and reconciliation.

·       Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce manual effort.

·       Assist with ERP implementation projects, system integrations, and data migration efforts as needed.

·       Support AP and AR teams with reconciliations, aging reviews, and month-end close activities as needed.

·       Assist with customer billing inquiries, vendor reconciliations, and credit memo processing when required.

·       Support special projects and ad hoc analysis as assigned by the Controller or Assistant Controller.

·       Ensure accuracy and completeness of GL activity in accordance with GAAP and Summit company policies.

Required Skills:

·       Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.

·       Experience with month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.

·       Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

·       Proficiency in ERP systems (Sage Intacct, SAP, NetSuite, or similar).

·       Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.

Preferred Skills:

·       Experience with Adaptive Insights or similar financial planning and reporting tools.

·       Experience in a manufacturing or multi-entity environment.

·       Familiarity with intercompany accounting, elimination entries, and consolidations.

·       Knowledge of revenue recognition principles under ASC 606, including POC methodology.

Minimum Qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

·       3–5 years of progressive accounting experience in a corporate or public accounting environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

·       CPA license or actively pursuing CPA designation.

·       Experience in a PE-backed, publicly audited, or manufacturing company environment.
