Senior Accountant
We are currently seeking a Sr. Accountant to join our Accounting team in Sunnyvale, CA.
SUMMARY: The Senior Accountant supports the Controller in overseeing the organization's accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting. This position is responsible for managing key aspects of the monthly and year-end close processes, account reconciliations, job cost accounting, financial reporting, audit support, and process improvement initiatives.
The Senior Accountant works collaboratively across departments to maintain strong internal controls, ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and provide financial information that supports sound business decisions.
Reports directly to the Controller and works closely with the CFO, General Manager, department managers, and external auditors as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Controller with the preparation of accurate monthly and annual financial statements and perform financial variance analyses for all companies.
Prepare and reconcile all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis, researching and resolving account variances.
Provide detailed analysis reports for accounts in question by the management.
Reconcile corporate credit card accounts, ensuring payments are accurately recorded and match general ledger transactions.
Prepare and reconcile Work-in-Progress (WIP) and Percentage-of-Completion (POC) job cost schedules for all companies, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and account balances.
Review business processes to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. Make recommendations for improvements where needed, especially automation of manual processes.
Ensure consistent application of accounting policies and practices company wide. Review current policies and make recommendations for improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Five or more years of progressive accounting experience.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) preferred.
Strong knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Experience with financial reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, and job cost accounting.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and cross-functional teams.
