Position Details
Position Title: Accountant Senior
College/Division: Research, Creativity and ED
Department: 200113-ARROWHEAD CENTER
Location: Las Cruces

Target Hourly/Salary Rate: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
Appointment Full-time Equivalency: 1.0
FLSA Status: Exempt
Bargaining Unit Announcement: This is NOT a bargaining unit position with American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME).
Contingent Upon Funding: Not Applicable
Standard Work Schedule: Standard (M-F, 8-5)

Job Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare budget and financial details on grants and contract proposals. Manage and coordinate all financial transactions to include a variety of types of funding, restricted (contracts & grants); Gifts (Foundation); Agency; I&G and unrestricted (revenue). Support HR Liaison on personnel matters. Oversee all financial disbursements and professional service contracts (Procurement). Represent department on business operations to all of university business offices (Restricted Accounting, Research Administration Services, Budget Office, Aggie Service Center, Purchasing and interdepartmental units).
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Associate's Degree + 4 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree + 2 years of relevant experience.
Equivalent Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 15 credit hours of Accounting (ACCT) course work.
Preferred Experience: Three (3) years of professional experience directly related to the job duties and responsibilities as outlined.

Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
Physical Effort: No or very limited physical effort required.
Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking.
Risk: No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
