JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Controller, the Senior Accountant performs complex and technical accounting functions involving the preparation, maintenance, analysis, and review of financial records, accounts, payroll and financial reports. The position ensures the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial information while establishing and maintaining effective accounting procedures and internal controls.  The Senior Accountant analyzes and interprets financial transactions and records, supports regulatory and financial reporting requirements and promotes compliance with organizational policies, accounting standards, and applicable laws and regulations.

A.  Job Specific Functions/Performance:

  1. Maintains accurate and complete accounting records in accordance with CHC’s policies and procedures, and in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Standards and regulatory agencies.
  2. Coordinates and prepares internal and external financial statements.
  3. Coordinates activities of external auditors.
  4. Coordinates activities of external tax return preparers.
  5. Assists in preparation of departmental and organizational budgets.
  6. Performs financial analysis and special projects, as assigned.
  7. Provides management with vital financial information to assist in the decision-making process.
  8. Responds to requests for information from other departments within the agency.
  9. Assesses current accounting operations, offers recommendations for improvement, and implements new processes.
  10. Reviews and/or prepares monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
  11. Evaluates accounting and internal control systems.
  12. Participates in Treasury functions.
  13. Assists with Revenue recognition, tracking and reconciliation
  14. Assists with Grants Management and prepares grant specific reports.
  15. Adheres to attendance standards in order to perform the job functions for daily operations and/or continuity of patient care.
