POSITION TITLE Senior Accountant    STATUS Full-Time/Exempt
 
POSITION SUMMARY   Primary responsibility is the management of the monthly accounting close process; coordination of the annual budget development process, both operating and capital; monitoring of financial forecasts; analyze revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this person will take complete responsibility for the financial functions including A/R, fixed assets, general ledger, financial reporting and the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.  This person must also ensure all necessary systems are in place for proper internal controls and accounting record in accordance with GAAP.   MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS   Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finances from an accredited college or university.  At least seven to ten years of accounting and finance experience, including prior experience managing an accounting department.  Must be experienced in fund accounting, in a complex nonprofit with multiple service programs. Must be experienced in a nonprofit environment and knowledge to assist program and other leadership in interpreting financial results of the agency is highly preferred. The ability to identify and implement process improvements is required. Knowledgeable of computers, with the ability to understand accounting systems, PC spreadsheets, and other financial data systems is required. The ability to direct the creation of clear and concise financial reports to aid in the functioning of the Agency, relying on a strong analytical background, is required.  Excellent oral and written communication and well-developed presentation skills are required.  Knowledge of and experience with MIP accounting software is highly preferred.   RESPONSIBILITIES
