Job Description: The Region Tax Specialist is responsible for supporting credits and incentives related state and local tax compliance activities across the assigned region while ensuring adherence to applicable tax laws and regulations. This role serves as a key resource for tax research, tax incentives, audits, and regulatory monitoring, helping the organization identify opportunities to maximize available tax credits and incentives while minimizing compliance risk. The Region Tax Specialist conducts research on tax issues, manages credits and incentives related state and local tax filings, assists with audits and tax notices, and collaborates with internal stakeholders . This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret evolving tax legislation and its impact on the organization. Key Responsibilities Prepare, review, and file compliance documentation for credits and incentives portfolio. Research and identify applicable state and local tax credits, incentives, abatements, and economic development programs that may provide financial benefits to the organization. Assist with the preparation, submission, and maintenance of tax incentive applications and supporting documentation. Conduct research on tax issues and provide recommendations to ensure compliance and optimize tax positions. Monitor federal, state, and local tax law changes and evaluate their impact on company operations, compliance requirements, and tax planning opportunities. Assist with state and local tax audits by gathering documentation, preparing responses, and coordinating with taxing authorities. Investigate and respond to tax notices, inquiries, and assessments from governmental agencies. Review financial data and transactions to identify tax implications and ensure accurate reporting. Maintain organized tax records, workpapers, and supporting documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Partner with district and operational leadership to provide guidance on tax-related matters and compliance obligations. Support various tax planning initiatives and special projects as assigned. Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable government tax regulations and reporting requirements. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in a corporate tax department, public accounting firm, or tax consulting environment. Experience with state and local tax compliance, reporting, audits, and tax research. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Ability to interpret tax laws, regulations, and guidance and apply them to business situations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple departments. Preferred Qualifications Experience identifying and managing tax credits, incentives, abatements, or economic development programs. Knowledge of multi-state tax regulations and compliance requirements. Experience preparing audit responses and supporting documentation for taxing authorities. CPA, CPA candidate, or advanced tax coursework preferred Job Grade- 10E Last day to apply internally- 10/6/2026 @ 11:59pm EST The position is based in Atlanta, Georgia and requires commuting to the office.
