Product Compliance Manager, Square

The Role

The Business Product Compliance and Partnerships team serves as strategic compliance advisors to Block's business teams, partnering with them to define product launch requirements, identify corresponding controls, and provide ongoing compliance support throughout the product lifecycle. We are seeking a Product Compliance Manager (PCM) to support Square's compliance program. Reporting to Block's Customer Product Compliance Lead, you will drive a strong compliance posture for Square's Core and Audiences product suites - including Square's commerce platform (F&B), workforce tools (Staff & Team Management), and customer engagement products (Loyalty, Gift Cards). The ideal candidate is a collaborative partner who works directly with Product, Engineering, Design, and Legal teams on a day-to-day basis.

You Will

• Serve as the embedded compliance advisor for Square's Core and Audiences product teams, partnering with Product, Engineering, Design, and Counsel to provide proactive compliance guidance on new products, features, and market expansions
• Lead product compliance reviews for new launches and feature changes, identifying requirements early in the development lifecycle and closing gaps in existing controls with clear remediation plans
• Own and maintain the compliance risk and control inventory for your product areas, including ongoing risk assessments and control effectiveness evaluations
• Drive key compliance program activities including issues management, testing and monitoring, policies and procedures development, and complaints management
• Support regulatory examinations and audits by coordinating responses, gathering evidence, and managing remediation of findings
• Monitor regulatory change across relevant domains and assess impact to your product portfolio
• Translate legal and regulatory requirements into practical, well-documented compliance controls that balance risk mitigation with product usability
• Develop and report on compliance metrics that provide meaningful visibility into the compliance health of your product areas

You Have

• 8+ years in the compliance industry, with direct experience in payments, merchant acquiring, or commerce platform compliance
• Strong regulatory knowledge, specifically in areas pertaining to AML/BSA, Payment Card and Network rules, Consumer Protection, Privacy, and electronic marketing and communication regulations
• Experience as an embedded compliance partner to Product and Engineering teams - comfortable operating in agile environments and influencing product decisions without slowing velocity
• Proven ability to translate legal and regulatory requirements into actionable controls, policies, and procedures
• Experience with core compliance program activities: risk assessments, issues management, testing and monitoring, regulatory exam support, and regulatory change management
• Strong written and verbal communication skills - able to articulate compliance requirements to technical and non-technical audiences, and document control requirements clearly
• Ability to work in a matrixed environment, collaborating across Compliance, Legal, Product, Engineering, Design, Risk, and International teams
• A metrics-driven approach — you use data to measure compliance program effectiveness and substantiate recommendations
