POSITION SUMMARY:
The Buyer will coordinate and perform the day-to-day procurement and supply chain activities within the Department as directed by the Supply Chain Manager. He or She will provide support to other departments through coordinating delivery of MRO materials and services with lowest cost and shortest lead time possible. Additionally, the Buyer will focus on short to medium term Supply Chain department objectives by focusing on strategic sourcing of new/alternative suppliers & services and maintaining Supplier Relationship Management best practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
- Vet and help on-board alternative & new suppliers through RFI/RFQ/RFP process.
- Perform cost analysis and negotiate pricing on quotes and service agreements from potential new suppliers.
- Utilize ERP system to perform MRP on purchased materials and issue POs to suppliers (Direct spend).
- Review and maintain safety stock and optimize ordering parameters of assigned purchased production materials in ERP System on a regular basis (Direct Spend).
- Utilize Open PO’s report to follow-up with suppliers on past-due purchase orders.
- Work with sales & marketing, and operations teams to communicate and coordinate availability of assigned purchased materials.
- Work with suppliers to resolve product nonconformances and collect corrective action documents.
- Manage Supplier Relationships through regular supplier visits and conducting Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR’s)
- Issue MRO POs to vendors via service & material requisition process (Indirect Spend). Coordinator building maintenance and service vendor visits as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Supply Chain Manager.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- 3-5 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing or a distribution setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field from an accredited college or university.
QUALIFICATIONS / OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills
- Work independently with minimal supervision & demonstrate time management skills.
- Good customer service/phone skills and flexibility for handling a wide range of business functions.
- Detail-oriented, ability to prioritize tasks; ability to adapt and quickly respond to shifts in business needs.
- Experience with ERP Systems (SAP, Oracle, Syspro, etc.) & proficient with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, life science, or consumer packaged goods industry preferred.
