Job Summary
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for leading commodity management activities within the assigned area of responsibility. This role develops and executes commodity and ecosystem strategies, manages strategic suppliers, drives cost savings and procurement initiatives, ensures supply base competitiveness, and manages procurement risks and opportunities. The position works closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders in a global, matrixed environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Commodity Circle in the respective area of responsibility with support from cross-functional team members.
• Manage commodities for the assigned area of responsibility.
• Define the Ecosystem strategy with cross-functional counterparts, support from GCMs, and in alignment with business objectives.
• Ensure transparency on cost structures and spend through Commodity Circles.
• Create and implement business-specific initiatives and measures based on commodity strategy, Ecosystem strategy, and business objectives.
• Increase Managed Spend by safeguarding awardings in accordance with the defined commodity strategy.
• Maintain a competitive supply base in alignment with the Ecosystem strategy and Commodity Circle.
• Execute periodic strategic procurement activities, including negotiation planning, commodity strategy updates, awarding strategy, sourcing board approvals, and quarterly review meetings.
• Prepare, negotiate, award, and make available frame contracts and price lists for strategic suppliers in accordance with business and market requirements and in alignment with GCM.
• Manage relationships with assigned strategic suppliers in alignment with GCM.
• Generate, document, and implement savings measures and monitor and report relevant KPIs.
• Drive early procurement and supplier involvement and cost-out activities through respective Commodity Circles.
• Identify procurement risks and opportunities and implement appropriate measures.
• Provide supplier market information and knowledge to stakeholders through the network.
• Drive supply and supplier management processes, including qualification, selection, evaluation, development, and classification.
• Work effectively within a global, matrixed organization and influence stakeholders through effective verbal and written communication.
• Support change initiatives and promote a collaborative, consensus-building team environment.

Required Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• 6–12 years of collective experience in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Sourcing, Engineering, or a similar function within machinery industries.
• Experience utilizing financial and data-driven techniques to support decision-making.
• Understanding of major mechanical manufacturing processes and the ability to communicate basic mechanical topics with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of procurement-related processes, systems, and tools.
• Familiarity with SAP and Productivity Management System.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Mature understanding of multiple aspects of the supply chain value stream.
• Experience with supplier financial risk evaluation and management.
• Experience with supply chain risk evaluation and management.
• Ability to quickly develop comprehensive knowledge of commodities and develop complex sourcing strategies.
• Commercial knowledge, contract law, and terms and conditions.
• Experience managing Long Term Contracts and negotiating complex terms and conditions.
• Experience in negotiations and supplier relationship management.
• Strong problem-solving and results-oriented approach.
• Ability to work effectively in a matrixed global organization.
• Willingness and ability to travel 10–15% domestically and internationally.
• Ability to learn and drive change in a global environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication and influencing skills.
• Collaborative approach with strong consensus-building capabilities.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of the Power Generation Industry.
• Data Analysis/Data Science skills.

Work Arrangement

• Hybrid working arrangement.
• Minimum 3 days per week in the office.
• Travel requirement: 10–15% domestically and internationally.
