JOB SUMMARY

This senior accounting role is responsible for the full range of accounting processes and financial reporting for a blended portfolio of multi-tiered Joint Ventures that hold investments in commercial real estate, development, and related investment vehicles.  

JOB ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The following is not an all-inclusive list of job responsibilities; other job-related duties may be added or changed at any time by MCB as the general position responsibilities evolve and to support business needs. 

Financial Report Review & Analytics - Review of property reporting, ensuring accuracy, provided by Property Accounting in preparation for consolidation and JV financial reporting. Prepare and communicate AJEs where needed. 

General Ledger - Create and post entries, reconciliation, and maintain current supporting schedules for assigned GL accounts. Cash posting, monitoring, and bank reconciliations are required.

Month-end and Quarter-end Reporting- Work closely with the Property Accounting and Asset Management Teams to prepare month-end financial reports and quarter-end investor reporting, ensuring accuracy, correct accounting treatments, and adherence to deadlines.

Capital Events Support – Assist Asset Management with the preparation of monthly and quarterly distributions, Capital Calls, and waterfall preparation/analytics. 

Debt Covenants - Prepare and deliver reports necessary for debt compliance, to include preparing and monitoring certain Guarantor requirements.

Tax & Audit – Assist with annual tax and audit cycle (including preparation of tax and audit workpaper packages).

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS/ABILITIES

• BS/ BA Degree from an accredited institution with a Finance & Accounting focus.

• Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in full cycle commercial real estate accounting and/or public accounting with a primary focus on the real estate industry.

• Experience with GAAP, Tax and FMV reporting.

• Experience with consolidation accounting and equity method accounting.

• Experience working within an Investor portal environment. AppFolio knowledge preferred.

• MRI software and Avid Payables user knowledge is preferred. 

• Microsoft Office software suite proficiency required, including advanced Excel proficiency.

• Effective oral and written communication skills; excellent accuracy/proofreading and attention to detail in all work products. 

• Proficiency and consistency with prioritizing workload, multi-tasking, working independently and meeting work deadlines. Flexibility to assist on ad-hoc projects or assignments and utilize critical thinking for problem resolution is needed.

• Superior Client, colleague, and Customer service is required while maintaining the highest standard of work ethics and trustworthiness.

• Experience with drafting policy, procedures and workflows.

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS 

This position is performed in an office setting with extended periods of sitting and computer/keyboard use; reading documents; spreadsheet calculations; phone and other electronic equipment.  Typing dexterity needed; minimal lifting (<20 lbs.).
