The Payroll Specialist plays a critical role in supporting our employees and business operations by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant weekly payroll processing for more than 800 team members across the organization. This position requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to manage time-sensitive information while partnering closely with Human Resources, Finance, and Operations. The ideal candidate will be a dependable payroll professional who takes pride in accuracy, problem-solving, and helping ensure every employee is paid correctly and on time.
DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Import / manage the integration of the timekeeping system into UKG payroll.
- Set up wage assignments and garnishments.
- Serve as the in-house expert for UKG payroll and related systems.
- Direct deposit and pay card administration.
- Troubleshoot any issues with payroll integrations, including 401K and HSA.
- Provide data / prepare payroll information for cost-plus contracts.
- Coordination with human resources in establishing and maintaining earnings and deduction codes.
- Potentially other support functions within the Home Office.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage time-sensitive tasks.
- Strong communication skills – both written and verbal
- Ability to communicate with employees, operational personnel, and third-party payment service.
- Solid computer skills, including working knowledge of spreadsheets and MS Office.
- Ability to work as part of a team toward shared objectives.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an accounting environment.
- Familiar with payroll requirements and time-sensitive work.
- Associate’s Degree preferred.
PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to use hands and fingers for computer keyboarding and answering phone calls.
- Ability to communicate via the telephone using speaking and hearing skills.
