This is a Full-time / Non-Exempt role 6 Month FTC Maternity Cover Role
We’re looking for a detail-focused Payroll Specialist to support the accurate and timely delivery of payroll, timekeeping and invoicing activity across a variety of clients.
In this role, you’ll work closely with internal teams to resolve payroll queries, process timecards, support adjustments and help ensure payroll information is accurate, compliant and delivered to agreed deadlines. You’ll also act as a key point of knowledge across payroll processes, timekeeping systems and data quality checks.
This role would suit someone who is comfortable working with high volumes of data, enjoys problem-solving, and takes pride in delivering a reliable and accurate payroll service.
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting timekeeping, payroll and invoicing processes for a range of clients.
- Gathering,reviewing and processing timecards from different systems.
- Preparing and processing weekly payroll for a high volume of workers.
- Processing termination checks within required turnaround times.
- Generating, sorting, auditing and delivering client invoices.
- Carrying out data entry, quality control and payroll audit checks to ensure information is accurate.
- Working with colleagues to troubleshoot payroll errors, queries and process issues.
- Partnering with corporate services to process payroll, expenses and other payroll-related activity.
- Providing detailed payroll information and guidance as a subject matter expert.
- Monitoring payroll activity to support compliance with local, state and federal employment law.
- Supporting Account Managers with payroll-related issues and requests.
- Sending reminders to workers and approvers where payroll-related tasks remain outstanding.
- Helping to refine standard operating procedures and improve ways of working where needed.
- Supporting and mentoring junior account specialists where required.
- Has at least 6 months’ payroll experience, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Has intermediate Excel skills and is confident working with data.
- Is highly detail-oriented and has a strong aptitude for numbers.
- Can manage high-volume payroll activity while maintaining accuracy and quality.
- Is confident identifying issues, solving problems and working at pace.
- Has a strong awareness of compliance and the importance of accurate payroll processes.
- Provides excellent service and approaches tasks with a solution-focused mindset.
- Is comfortable working across different timekeeping, payroll or ATS systems.
- Can communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues, employees, clients, vendors and managers.
- A BA/BS degree from an accredited university.
- Two or more years’ experience in HR, payroll or a similar role.
- Knowledge of state-specific employment laws.
- Previous experience mentoring others or acting as a team lead.
