NATURE AND SCOPE:



POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Compiles payroll data, hours worked, taxes, insurance, and deductions to be withheld. Checks the electronic data (time clocks and timesheets) in preparation of payroll, calculating and reconciling as necessary to ensure errors are eliminated.
  • Reconcile the time and attendance clock to the billing clock.
  • Posts wages and maintains all payroll records.
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll and executes correction entries where needed, keeping accurate records of rectifications. This will involve a review and analysis of payroll reports and conferring with respective managers.
  • Researches, analyzes and resolves any payroll questions presented by employees, managers, or outside agency representatives.
  • Manages and works closely with outside payroll services provider(s) the company has retained to ensure timely and accurate processing of deliverables.
  • Will help HR department roll out new benefits, and maintain the schedules.  
  • Validates changes made by HR department affecting wages, such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records.
  • Prepares periodic reports for management and President’s review.
  • Support the VP Finance & Administration with other business activities as needed.
  • Endeavor to be a positive example at all times; through professional behavior, integrity, commitment to the company and compliance with its policies.
  • It is not uncommon for hourly employees to forget to clock in/out. In such cases the incumbent must work with respective managers to resolve such issues. 

EDUCATION:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.  AA/AS is preferred.  

EXPERIENCE:

  • Four years of related experience which includes two years of clerical accounting experience is required.  

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: 

  • Knowledge of payroll principles, practices, regulations and procedures. 
  • Must have advanced knowledge of spreadsheets and other MS Suite.  
  • Must be able to quickly grasp payroll and time & attendance software applications.             
  • Skill in evaluating and analyzing technical payroll activities. 
  • Skill in both verbal and written communication. 
  • Knowledge of accounting practices and procedures. 
  • Has worked with ADP software.
  • Skill in performing detailed computations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:      

  • Work is performed in an air-conditioned office environment. May require frequent walking and/or standing. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
