Spectrum Health Care is looking for a detail‑oriented, analytical Payroll Analyst to join our corporate team in Toronto. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will process end‑to‑end payroll for our expanding workforce, ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance, and manage seamless data flow across payroll, accounting, and HR platforms. 

The role blends day‑to‑day processing with higher‑level work such as advanced reconciliations, month‑end journal entries, statutory filings, year‑end reporting, and system configuration. You’ll also translate payroll data into clear, data‑driven insights that support Finance, HR, and senior‑management decisions, while serving as a reliable problem‑solver for complex payroll inquiries. The ideal candidate is proactive, comfortable balancing routine tasks with analytical projects, and experienced with payroll, accounting, and HR systems.

Job Description

• Process bi‑weekly and semi‑monthly payroll for salaried, hourly staff and independent contractors, including final‑wage calculations for off‑boarding (vacation payouts, ROE filings).
• Prepare and submit all required remittances (EI, CPP, WSIB, EHT, payroll taxes, T4/T4A, T2200, etc.), maintain audit‑ready documentation, and support internal/external audits to ensure adherence to evolving Canadian legislation.
• Audit, reconcile, and update employee records across payroll, HR, and accounting systems; partner with HR to coordinate deduction changes, benefit enrollments, and other employee‑data updates.
• Investigate and address complex payroll questions with accuracy, empathy, and timely communication.
• Perform advanced reconciliations, month‑end journal entries, and year‑end closing activities; generate and distribute required reports for finance and leadership.
• Analyze payroll data, produce insight‑driven reports for management, and support system upgrades, workflow refinements, and automation projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, human resources or related field.
• 3+ years in full-cycle, in-house payroll processing in a high-volume environment.
• Completion of Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation through the National Payroll Institute.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel for reporting, and analytics, including experience with handling large data sets, building pivot tables, crafting complex formulas, and generating key metrics reporting.
• Solid understanding of applicable Canadian federal and provincial payroll legislations, including Ontario Employment Standards, CRA and Service Canada guidelines.
• Adept at identifying emerging problems early and executing swift, practical solutions.
• Critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion, exceptional attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
• Proven ability to multi-task and work in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment.
• Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willing to work fully in-office.
