Payroll Specialist - Temporary

We're looking for a detail-oriented and compliance-focused Payroll Specialist to join our Finance team on a temporary basis to support a high-priority initiative involving the creation of a new US LLC, the wind-down of the existing US Branch, and the end-to-end implementation of a new global payroll provider. This role will work closely with the Finance, Legal, and People Operations teams to ensure seamless execution across all project workstreams. You'll collaborate with external advisors, payroll vendors, and internal stakeholders to meet regulatory deadlines and ensure compliance at every stage. This role reports to the Senior Global Payroll Manager.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Support the payroll and compliance workstream for the US Branch to US LLC transition.
• Assist with deregistration and final filings for the existing US Branch across ~36 state and local jurisdictions.
• Execute state and local payroll tax registrations for the new US LLC.
• Assist with payroll setup, tax configuration, testing, and initial processing under the new entity.
• Collaborate with internal teams (Tax, Legal, HR, Finance) and external partners (ADP, tax agencies) on transition deliverables.
• Track deadlines, dependencies, filings, registrations, and open items throughout the transition and identify and escalate risks or compliance gaps.
• Support the payroll implementation workstream for the migration of StackAdapt's entities to a new global payroll provider following the US LLC transition.
• Support  implementation activities including data preparation and migration, payroll configuration, integration coordination, validation, testing, parallel payroll runs, issue resolution, and go-live readiness.
• Coordinate with the global payroll provider, internal stakeholders, and payroll teams across multiple countries to ensure implementation milestones and dependencies are met.
• Maintain detailed project documentation, payroll requirements, testing results, issue logs, and implementation sign-offs.
• Support a controlled transition to the new global payroll provider while maintaining payroll accuracy, compliance, and business continuity throughout the migration.

What You'll Bring to the Table

• Knowledge of US payroll, payroll tax, and multi-state compliance requirements.
• Experience managing payroll projects, implementations, entity transitions, or similar initiatives.
• Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to independently manage timelines, deadlines, dependencies, and multiple stakeholders.
• Highly detail-oriented, accountable, and thorough, with a strong focus on accuracy and follow-through.
• Proven ability to take ownership of complex work from planning through execution, identify risks early, and proactively drive issues to resolution.
• Strong communication, collaboration and technical (Excel / Google worksheet) skills, with the ability to work effectively across Payroll, Finance, Tax, Legal, HR, vendors, and external stakeholders.

The compensation range listed for this role reflects the expected base hourly pay for candidates located in the posting country based on a global rate. It is informed by market data and the approved budget for this position. StackAdapt maintains different compensation ranges for roles across other countries and regions, and final offers will be aligned to the candidate’s current location. We do not ask candidates about current or prior compensation history, and we will not use such information, if volunteered, in setting an offer.

This range represents base hourly compensation only. 

Factors Influencing Final Compensation:

• The final compensation offer will be determined by a variety of factors, which may include, but are not limited to: the candidate's specific experience, technical skills, knowledge, abilities, and relevant education, licensure, and certifications.
• Other business factors, such as organizational needs and budget alignment, may also be considered in the final offer.

Canada Hourly Rate Band

$25 - $34 CAD
