Payroll Accountant
The payroll accountant position works with the Payroll Manager to process ADP payroll and performs accounting and reporting related tasks associated with payroll. This position must be able to work with the Payroll Manager to complete payroll cycles in a timely and accurate fashion to meet strict deadlines and must demonstrate a high level of business integrity while processing confidential employee data. Duties will also include maintenance of time tracking system, PTO tracking, and other time and wage reporting. The duties in this position are expected to evolve over time as a result of the company’s growth and the increasing complexities in our industry. This position requires interaction with senior management, employees, and other interested third parties.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process bi-weekly disbursement of multi-state payroll, including tips, garnishments, benefits and taxes to employees consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws in U.S. and Canada.
- Ensure the processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions and
terminations is accurate and timely. - Administer the Concur Expense reporting system to ensure compliance with the Company’s Expense Reimbursement Policies and ensure timely reimbursement to employees.
- Manage regular preparation and accuracy of relevant management operational reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports.
- Perform month end accounting entries and calculation of payroll related accruals.
- Reporting with temporary employee agencies and reconciliation of weekly invoicing to ensure timely recording and settlement.
- Assist with quarterly and annual reporting requirements for payroll related reports, as required.
- Critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits and payroll tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations
- Other tasks as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- 1-2 years of experience managing a multi-state payroll in a manufacturing company
- Extensive knowledge of ADP and HRIS
- Proficient at MS Office (especially Excel)
- Working experience of payroll tax at the federal, state and local levels
- Must be a team player
- Must be highly organized
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and interact with computers, telephone and other electronic media
- Must possess visual acuity to document company records
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree
- ADP and HRIS experience a must
