Medical Billing Specialist

San Luis Valley Behavioral Health Group in Alamosa, CO is seeking a dedicated full-time Medical Billing Specialist to join our mission-driven team! • The pay for this position is: $19-$25.65 per hour

YOUR SCHEDULE

This full-time position works 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 1+ years of prior medical billing experience
• Experience working with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Experience using a computer and medical billing software
• Knowledge of insurance carrier billing requirements and processes
• Comfortable with accessing and using insurance companies' websites
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Great customer service skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to multitask
• Great time management skills
• Ability to work in an office environment
• Ability to interact with clients both over the phone and through email conversations
• Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, and use a computer/phone

WHAT YOUR DAY ENTAILS AS OUR MEDICAL BILLING SPECIALIST

As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will ensure timely reimbursement for our services by preparing and submitting medical claims, maintaining knowledge of CPT and HCPCS coding, and monitoring claim status. Key responsibilities include researching denied claims, posting and reconciling payments, verifying insurance benefits, obtaining authorizations, and communicating with clients about billing questions and account updates. You'll collaborate with insurance carriers and internal teams to resolve issues, prepare account statements, maintain accurate records, uphold HIPAA standards, and ensure all client information is current.
