Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to manage the billing and reimbursement process for healthcare services. This position is responsible for reviewing and submitting claims, resolving denials, posting payments, and ensuring compliance with payer guidelines and healthcare regulations. The ideal candidate has strong medical billing knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to accuracy and timely reimbursement.

Responsibilities:

• Review and correct claims rejected for errors prior to submission for reimbursement.
• Receive and review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), research denials, and resubmit corrected claims.
• Process electronic and manual remittances and accurately post payments to patient accounts.
• Contact insurance companies regarding outstanding or delinquent accounts.
• Review inpatient medical records to ensure complete and accurate charge capture.
• Prepare, review, and submit inpatient claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance carriers.
• Assign and validate appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes, including ICD-10-CM/PCS and DRG/APR-DRG classifications.
• Ensure compliance with payer billing guidelines, CMS regulations, HIPAA requirements, and company policies.
• Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid, underpaid, denied, or rejected claims.
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies, claim edits, and reimbursement issues.
• Process claim corrections, adjustments, and rebills as needed.
• Collaborate with coding, utilization review, case management, and clinical staff to resolve billing issues.
• Generate and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly billing reports.
• Stay informed of changes in Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer requirements, and applicable regulations, communicating updates as needed.
• Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities and payer communications.
• Meet established productivity, accuracy, and billing timeline expectations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Previous medical billing experience is required.
• Strong knowledge of medical claims processing, insurance reimbursement, and accounts receivable is required.
• Experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance payers is required.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, DRG/APR-DRG coding, and medical billing regulations is preferred.
• Understanding of CMS regulations, HIPAA requirements, and payer billing guidelines.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency with medical billing software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
