Adapted from existing Fabrication Management role descriptions---Position Summary Responsible for reviewing fabrication requirements, developing and managing digital shop cut lists, and allocating ordered and received inventory to optimize material use and support shop production.Key Responsibilities · Create and manage digital cut lists and nesting plans to optimize material usage and reduce waste. · Review fabrication packages and determine material requirements. · Purchase steel materials from service centers and approved suppliers. · Obtain quotes, negotiate pricing, and coordinate material deliveries. · Monitor procurement spending, material availability, and project schedules. · Maintain all cut list, nesting, procurement, and inventory records electronically. · Generate reports related to material utilization, purchasing performance, and cost savings. · Collaborate with detailing, engineering, project management, procurement, and fabrication teams. · Identify opportunities to reduce material costs and improve fabrication efficiency.Required Qualifications · 3+ years of experience in steel fabrication, material planning, or procurement. · Experience creating digital cut lists and nesting solutions. · Knowledge of steel products, fabrication processes, and material optimization.· Experience purchasing materials from steel service centers. · Strong Excel, data analysis, and digital system skills. · Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.Preferred Qualifications · Experience with PowerFab, Tekla, FabSuite, SigmaNEST, ProNest, or similar software. · Experience with ERP and inventory management systems. · Background in structural steel fabrication or manufacturing.Critical Success Factors · Accurate digital cut lists and nesting plans. · Material yield improvement and scrap reduction. · Procurement cost savings. · On-time material deliveries. · Effective digital workflow management. · Reliable material forecasting and inventory planning.Important RequirementThis is a digital-first position. Candidates must be proficient in electronic cut listing, nesting software, and digital procurement systems. Reliance on printed cut lists or paper-based material management practices is not compatible with the expectations of this role.Wage: Depends on experience
