Lead Staff Accountant

Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing various tasks that help to maintain proper financial statements for the company. They are also responsible for helping to protect the financial integrity of the company from both inside and outside sources. In addition they fulfill supervisory responsibilities to assist the CFO and Controller as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Assists with some supervisory duties as given by the CFO or Controller.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
• Records daily and monthly transactions.
• Prepares accounting reports to be presented to senior management.
• Assists the inventory team with cycle counting.
• Files required Sales tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
• Understands and assists 3rd party tax accountants with tax filings.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
• Adept computer skills and proficiency using QuickBooks, Microsoft Business Central, and Microsoft Excel.
• Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Excellent organization skills for maintaining clear, accurate, and meticulous financial records for a company.
• Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to work without distraction.
• Excellent efficiency for handling any accounting issues quickly with minimal interference.

Education and Experience:

• Must either be a recent graduate or in the process of completing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting.
• Must have 1-2 years experience in an accounting role.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
