Interim RN – Risk Manager & Staff Development Coordinator
We are seeking an experienced Interim RN – Risk Manager & Staff Development Coordinator to join our 74-bed skilled nursing facility. This temporary leadership position is responsible for overseeing the facility's risk management program, staff education, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement initiatives.

Interim Staff Development Nurse / Risk Manager
The Interim Staff Development Nurse / Risk Manager provides temporary leadership and oversight of the facility's Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program, staff education, and risk management functions. This role supports the clinical team by ensuring regulatory compliance, promoting quality outcomes, and maintaining a safe environment for residents and staff during a transitional period.
Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI)
- Lead and coordinate QAPI initiatives to promote continuous quality improvement
- Monitor, analyze, and trend clinical outcomes, quality indicators, and compliance data
- Assist with survey readiness and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Develop and implement corrective action plans to address identified concerns
Risk Management
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and unusual occurrences; identify root causes and implement corrective actions
- Track and trend risk-related data to reduce liability and improve resident safety
- Develop and implement risk prevention strategies and policies
- Ensure timely reporting and documentation of incidents in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with facility leadership to improve safety and mitigate risk
Staff Development
- Coordinate and conduct orientation for new nursing staff
- Plan and provide ongoing education and in-service training
- Validate staff competencies and ensure compliance with mandatory education requirements
- Provide education based on identified quality improvement and risk management trends
Resident Care & Safety
- Promote and protect residents' rights, dignity, and quality of care
- Support infection prevention, emergency preparedness, and workplace safety initiatives
- Foster a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and education documentation
- Utilize electronic medical records and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Perform other duties as assigned to support facility operations during the interim assignment
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Current CPR certification
- Previous experience in staff development, risk management, quality assurance, or long-term care leadership preferred
- Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, survey processes, and QAPI principles
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to step into a leadership role quickly and effectively in a fast-paced skilled nursing environment
