About the Opportunity
Our client is the Canadian arm of one of the world's leading premium spirits producers — a global portfolio business with iconic brands distributed through liquor boards and retail channels across the country. The Canadian entity operates as part of a North American shared services model, with a lean, focused team handling all local accounting, compliance, and commercial finance activity.
This contract role exists to cover a parental leave absence and will provide reliable, timely and professional support to all areas of the Canadian business. Has ownership for key local accounting processes. Responsible for supporting the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. Attention to detail and effective communication skills are essential to the success of this role.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare weekly files to support customer invoices and deductions.
· Support the US-based Accounts Receivable team to clear remittances from customers
· Assist with managing month- and year-end close reporting proceedings, ensuring a high level of accuracy
· Prepare month end accruals for distribution expenses, agency commissions, distribution and marketing activities
· Reconcile accrual balances and inventory each month and follow up to resolve any discrepancies
· Reconcile bailment sales each month and resolve discrepancies
· Assists with preparations for external audits.
· Oversee the monthly T&E expense report process, including communication of timelines and administration of Concur (expense reporting tool) and providing regular reports for senior management on expense management
· Supports the AP Clerk with Accounts Payable process to ensure invoices are appropriately approved and paid in a timely manner
· Complete monthly/quarterly filings with the CRA (GST/HST) and StatsCan (Trade Surveys)
· Assist with the budgeting and forecasting process for operating expenses
· Understand and continually develop company-wide best practices and internal controls
· Fulfill ad hoc requests as required
What You Bring
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2–4 years of full-cycle accounting experience, ideally in a corporate or subsidiary environment
- Solid month-end close experience — comfortable owning the process, not just supporting it
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and working with upload templates and manual workarounds
- SAP experience is a strong asset; comfort with ERP-based workflows required
- Familiarity with Canadian regulatory filings (GST/HST, StatsCan) is an asset
- Clear communicator with the ability to work effectively across internal teams and external partners
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple reconciliations and deadlines concurrently
- Comfortable working within a shared services model and coordinating across time zones
Nice to Have
- Background in beverage alcohol, CPG, or a business with liquor board or government customers
- Exposure to trade spend or deduction reconciliation processes
- Experience with Concur or a similar T&E platform
