Group Financial Controller

Dublin, Ireland • Full Time

Posted on Sat, Jul 4, 2026

As Transmission System Operator, EirGrid is at the heart of Ireland’s electricity system, ensuring that power flows safely and reliably from where it is generated to where it is needed. EirGrid manages the real-time operation of the power system and oversees the wholesale electricity market, balancing supply and demand every second of the day. We strengthen system resilience through the development and operation of interconnectors to other countries and are also responsible for planning and developing the transmission network, investing in necessary upgrades and expansion to meet Ireland’s growing demand and support the transition to a low-carbon future. Our role is expanding significantly to include operating, developing, and owning Ireland’s offshore transmission grid, a critical step in harnessing the potential of offshore wind energy.
The Opportunity
We are now seeking a Group Financial Controller to join the Chief Finance Office.
The Group Financial Controller will oversee all corporate financial management, regulatory accounting, and capital expenditure control for the group's rapidly expanding state backed electricity infrastructure assets. This Director-level role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and leads reporting lines to key state shareholders.
The Director balances public-sector accountability with strong commercial growth. This role commands director-level financial governance over a multi-billion-euro capital investment programme (grid modernization and renewable integration). It places a heavy emphasis on advanced Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), rigorous financial reporting, and the management of a critical Financial Business Partner (FBP) model embedded across the business including engineering and asset operations.
The Team
The Finance Chief Office is responsible for establishing a strong and credible financial position to enable EirGrid to secure regulatory funding, attract sustainable finance and commit to major infrastructure programmes. By enhancing our existing financial governance, the Chief Office aims to create clear and strong frameworks, ensuring a strong control environment, continued transparency, accountability, and resilience.
