Salary Range: $66,300 - $70,000 (commensurate with experience)
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday (9:00am-5:00pm with a 1hr unpaid break)
Weekly Paid Hours/ Week: 35

About the Role
The Grant Accountant will manage and monitor the financial aspects of all grants with a primary focus on timely and accurate grant invoicing and financial reporting. Operating within the Finance Department, this role reports directly to the Controller. The position provides the right candidate an excellent opportunity to learn and grow as our internal finance functions continue to develop over time.
What You’ll Do
(75% ) Invoicing, General Ledger Reconciliation, and Receivables

Track grant revenues and expenditures in the general ledger; ensure proper coding

Monitor expenditures for compliance with grant agreements and eligibility requirements

Reconcile grant-related accounts, identifying discrepancies and making necessary adjustments to maintain accurate financial records

Create and submit invoices for Public (Federal, State and City), Private Grants, other funding agencies with proper supporting documentation

Ensure cost‑reimbursable grants follow approved budgets

Conduct follow up on invoices to confirm compliance requirements and accelerate cash collections

Review accounts receivable aging reports regularly with the Controller

Coordinate closely with the Development and Communications Team to ensure all grant reporting deadlines are met

Recommend budget modifications by establishing schedules, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data

Ensure all grant-related financial activities comply with federal, state, city and grantor guidelines and policies

Partner with the CFO and Controller to develop and streamline financial policies to enhance grant compliance and operational efficiency
(25%) Administrative & Other

Ensure grant revenue is properly reconciled in coordination with monthly accounting close processes.

Assist with grant budget development and pre‑award financial reviews

Develop, coordinate, and provide financial analysis to the Development and Public Partnerships teams for the annual budget and forecasting processes.

Maintain centralized documentation of grant activities for audit purposes (including items such as time certifications and programmatic reporting).

Preparing Monthly and Quarterly Financial Reports for management review

Compile clear, comprehensive documentation to support organizational and funder audits

Handle other duties as assigned based on evolving organizational needs
What You’ll Bring
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Grant Accountant to join our Finance Team. The ideal candidate possesses solid expertise in financial management, grant administration, and compliance monitoring, alongside a thorough understanding of the specific requirements and conditions tied to grant funding.

Must have a strong foundation in accounting principles, including GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), budgeting, and financial reporting

Proven ability to apply accounting knowledge to grant-specific circumstances

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing payments, accounting, reporting, and writing

Self-starter mindset with proven analytical, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills

Must have a level of independent curiosity to advocate for effective and seamless financial processes

Ability to conceive new approaches and streamline processes without constant direct supervision

Absolute discretion concerning sensitive issues and confidential matters.

Proficient experience with various software applications including MS Office and Google Suite.

Flexibility, patience, and a positive attitude when meeting unexpected project demands
Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred)

Experience Level: Minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional accounting experience
-
Industry Experience: Direct prior experience working within a non-profit environment
