Global Controller

We are partnering with a NYSE-listed company in search of an International Controller to join their senior finance leadership team. This is a high-impact, highly visible role for a technically strong accounting leader who thrives in complex, global environments and is ready to drive meaningful change. The organization is at an important inflection point — they need someone who can come in, assess what needs to be fixed, and build the foundation for scalable, compliant accounting operations across their international footprint, with a primary focus on Mexico and Brazil.
This is not a maintenance role. The right candidate will be a hands-on leader who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, leading a team, and partnering cross-functionally to deliver results.
What You Will Do
- Lead SOX compliance efforts and drive the remediation of material weaknesses across international operations, with a specific focus on Mexico and Brazil
- Own technical accounting across key areas including revenue recognition, CapEx, fixed assets, derivatives, foreign exchange, and consolidations
- Clean up the balance sheet, identify and correct errors, and build the controls and processes needed to support a complex, growing global organization
- Partner closely with EY to deliver a cleaner, more efficient audit
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 10–15 accounting professionals across New York and Mexico
- Establish and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls across international entities
- Support intercompany accounting and reconciliation across complex global structures
- Serve as a key business partner to senior leadership and other departments across the organization
What They Are Looking For
- CPA required; Big 4 public accounting background strongly preferred
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant time in a public company environment
- Deep knowledge of SOX compliance and internal controls
- Strong technical accounting competence across US GAAP, consolidations, FX, and derivatives
- Proven experience leading and managing large accounting teams — 10 or more direct and indirect reports
- Experience operating within complex global structures with heavy intercompany activity
- Latin America experience (Mexico and/or Brazil) is a strong plus
- Ability to operate with urgency, drive accountability, and build structure where it does not exist
