The role

This is a hands-on, on-site Controller search for a fast-growing New Jersey company that needs a strong, SaaS-savvy finance leader to bring ownership, process, and structure to a functional but stretched accounting environment. The ideal candidate is a player-coach who can both execute and lead. Someone ready to roll up their sleeves on the day-to-day while also mentoring the team, tightening processes, and partnering closely with company leadership to help the finance function scale alongside the business.

What you'll do

• Fully own and oversee all company-wide accounting functions, from journal entries through monthly and year-end closings
• Prepare accurate, timely financial statements in compliance with US GAAP and applicable local statutory requirements
• Direct the month-end close process and enforce company financial policies
• Prepare annual budgets, variance reports, cash forecasts, and ad hoc financial plans on rapid turnaround
• Establish and maintain expense and cash controls, manage working capital, and oversee debt collection and supplier payments
• Manage and mentor a team of accountants, providing direction, structure, and prioritization where processes are still maturing
• Partner cross-functionally as an internal, outward-facing finance leader, gathering information from and supporting decision-making across departments
• Bring recommendations and process improvements proactively; leadership is actively looking for a Controller who will push the function forward, not just maintain it
• Provide guidance on strategic planning and key performance indicators alongside the CFO and CEO

What you bring

• 5+ years of experience in finance operations and accounting, with prior experience as an Accounting Manager or Controller
• Significant experience managing the finances of a fast-growing SaaS company
• Strong SaaS financial reporting expertise
• Experience consolidating domestic financial statements
• Experience migrating an accounting platform from QuickBooks Enterprise to QuickBooks Online is a strong plus
• Big 4 public accounting experience preferred
• Strong systems knowledge (QuickBooks Online, Excel, PowerPoint, and similar)
• A leader and player-coach who can build process and structure while directing others, not just operate as an individual contributor
• Comfort with ambiguity, a fast pace, and frequent ad hoc requests with rapid turnaround expectations
• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with sound judgment in difficult situations
• Based in or able to commute reliably on-site to Wall Township, NJ

Compensation and benefits

• Base salary: $140,000
• Medical coverage employer-paid for the employee; dependents may be added at employee cost
